The Prince of Peace China Culture Trip 2024
Prince of Peace Children’s Home, established in 2003 by Kenneth Yeung, founder of Prince of Peace Enterprises, is the only orphanage in China approved to cooperate with overseas Chinese. This year marks the 20th anniversary of its founding. Over the past two decades, Prince of Peace Children’s Home has dedicated itself to providing a safe and nurturing environment for hundreds of severely disabled children, addressing their medical needs, and offering life skills training. With the support of the Children’s Home and kind-hearted families, more than 50 children have been adopted domestically and internationally, finding new lives nurtured by love. Prince of Peace Children’s Home has become a model welfare institution both locally and nationally, receiving appreciation and recognition from society and numerous commendations from the government.
This year’s “Prince of Peace China Culture Trip” concluded in July. It was incredibly special and meaningful for us, the children, and their families. Accompanied by their families, they could return to where they were given a new life– the “Prince of Peace” Children’s Home. The children showed their former caretakers how well they had grown and reminisced about the times they spent together. These children, who will always hold a special place in their hearts, have finally spread their wings and found their own sky.
"This cultural trip has immensely benefited us, completely dispelling our child's doubts and shadows of feeling abandoned and unloved. It has rebuilt our child's love and confidence, bringing our family closer together. After the trip, our child told me that in the future, he hopes to create a business that can help orphans and spread love. We are grateful to the Prince of Peace Children's Home for this profoundly meaningful journey, which has given us and our child such a precious experience, allowing us to feel life's purpose and mission," recalled a parent from an adoptive family.
As a recap, our culture trip ventured to four different cities: Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. Children and their families attended royal banquets dressed in Hanfu, admired the breathtaking scenery at the Badaling Great Wall, and visited the Summer Palace, where they learned about modern Chinese history and culture. Families also went to Marco Polo Square in Tianjin and learned about Marco Polo’s role in cultural exchanges between the East and West. They also experienced driving simulations and the marvels of technology at BYD, an advanced automotive manufacturer. Other activities included exploring historic streets, going on nighttime cruises, and participating in many other immersive and interactive experiences that left a lasting impression on the children and their families.
"I saw my friends and the teachers who took care of me. I visited the school I attended for six years and met my elementary school teachers. This was the most touching and unforgettable moment of the trip," a child recollected.
"BYD's cars are amazing! We saw the future development of electric vehicles and the progress of technology. The whole day was very interesting," one excited child said.
At the APEC meeting, President Xi mentioned, "The hope for China-U.S. relations lies in the people, its foundation in civil society, its future in the youth, and its vitality in local exchanges." Likewise, Prince of Peace Children's Home hopes that cultural interactions between the people of China and the United States will lead to greater mutual understanding. The young ambassadors of goodwill from China and the U.S. will help bridge communication between the two countries, inspiring more people to participate in charitable activities.
We hope more families will participate in next year's China culture trip. We also welcome kind-hearted individuals to donate, which will better the quality and quantity of care for the children at our home.
